For those renewing in 2018

For those renewing in 2018 Complete 10 hours of approved Mandatory Continuing Education (MCE) every 2 years of which 4 hours must be a core course, and 6 hours an elective course, unless you are a broker in charge. -If you have salesperson or broker license—10 hours of continuing education of which 4 hours are core (TRID Safely in a Flood of Disclosures) and the other 6 elective. A BIC who renews in 2018 must take both and at least 2 hours additional elective. -If you are BIC—10 hours of continuing education of which 4 hours are core(TRID Safely in a Flood of Disclosures), 4 hours of mandatory BIC elective (Duties and Responsibilities) and 2 hours in any other elective.

MCE Record Keeping is Your Responsibility -It is your sole responsibility to ensure that you complete your MCE and that you receive and retain certificates of completion as proof that you did so. -It is recommended records be kept for at least three years. At renewal, you will be required to attest on the renewal notice that you have complied with MCE requirements. -If you live in SC, and have an office that is your primary place of business in SC, then you must take SC education to fulfill license requirements. -If you live in NC and work in NC, SC will accept NC education hours as part of agreement with NC. -If you live in SC, but work in NC, you must take education in SC to maintain your SC license, and you must take NC education to maintain your NC license. Exemption from continuing education -If you have a current exemption from continuing education (based on age and experience), you will retain that exemption through grandfathering. -If you have 25 years of experience and hold a salesperson or broker license (and are not currently exempt—see above line) you can apply for a partial exemption and will only have to take the core course (TRID Safely in a Flood of Disclosures). -If you have 25 years of experience and hold a BIC license (and are not currently exempt) you can apply for a partial exemption and will only have to take the core course (TRID Safely) and the mandatory BIC course (BIC Duties and Responsibilities).
